In the health care system, we have encounter a few struggles:
Receiving the whole picture of the patient, being treated, and medicated by different Dr’s.
Transferring the patient to another unit is a lot of paperwork.
Intake and output abnormalities was reacted on too long.
Vital signs abnormalities not acted upon.
Dr taking over treatment of the patient had to start over, as there was no documentation.
Personnel being buried in paperwork and not active attending to patients.
Incidents managed by management and the change does not happen on ground level, follow-up incidents is difficult to keep track of and the long-term change is not seen only assumed or even lost track of.
There were MDT pulling at different ends of what they felt was good for the patient and it ended up being to the detriment of the patient
Statistics for research within SA was unobtainable.
Doing marketing was basically shooting in the dark and see where it lands.
The system systematically resolved all of this:
The whole picture gave the foundation for the personnel to advocate for the patients.
Transferring the patient can now happen at the push of a button, the transfer facility can see everything that has been done up to this point.
The intake and output is loaded and calculated to flag any abnormalities.
Vital sign abnormalities were flagged and action are prompted.
With the transparency of the system, a simple transfer of the patient gave the new dr an overview and details of where the previous dr was at and already tried and where to continue the treatment.
Personnel had a system doing the grunt work and the personnel now have the time to hold a hand and comfort and sad or anxious patient.
The system is created that the personnel themselves have to load the incident, they have to disclose the actions they put into place to mitigate this incident from happening and then the system prompts the personnel to come up with the solution. Management will just confirm and adapt results. This lead to the responsibility being shifted and taken by the personnel and not only by management.
MDT all came to the same table and working together to treat the patient.
Statistics is now an endless possibility, even just seeing the escalation of the use of the system was evident after implementation. Now we can start drawing real time statistics.
Marketing is now a pin point process, after acknowledging the feedback and statistics marketing can now be specific and defined.
